WELCOME TO HALAKURA COLLEGE LIBRARY

    Halakura College was established in the year 1991 at greater Halakura. The library of the College was established in the same year with only 2000 books. The library is situated in the South-West corner of an Assam-type Classroom Building. The total area of the Library is 223 square meter. The construction work for separate Digital Library and Digital Classroom is almost finished and the present library is expected to be shifted to the newly-constructed building soon.

The mission of the Halakura College library is to make provision for a comfortable ambience to the learners for acquisition of knowledge. The library is all set to make room for value-added services in its operation.

The library in the initial stages of its formation had to rely on donation of books made by local academicians and educated people. As time passed by, the college authority began to make purchases of books, text as well as reference books, almirahs, book shelves, computer etc. with its limited resources in their effort to enrich the library. The work of automating the library is in progress at present with introduction of Soul 3.0 software developed by INFLIBNET and the Library Management Application developed by a local entrepreneur. As per Library Stock Register, the college Library has a standing collection of 9515 nos. of books. It has also a collection of periodicals (Journals and Magazines) of repute and newspapers in Assamese as well in English catering to the needs of the students and teachers. The library has also opened a Book Bank with donated books, mostly by teachers of the college, for the use of poor students. The whole library is under 24 hours’ CCTV Surveillance.
